Testimonials: Kiwi Syslog Daemon
“Thanks for creating such wonderful tools! I've been using the freeware version of your syslog daemon, and I can't live without it! I've just discovered your other apps, and I will try them out as well! It's great to see that there are software developers out there who don't charge an arm and a leg for their inventions; I applaud your coding skills, and will always recommend your site to all my professional colleagues. Many thanks!”

“I want to express my gratitude and thank you for making your application available to the public. I'm a Network Administrator working in a military environment in the Far East. I have access to very, (and I really mean very!), limited resources. It has been a tremendous relief to be able to use your program. I'm a first time user and the program was very easy and intuitive to use. In no time at all I was able to monitor our most critical routers and switches. Since making it operational I was able to proactively prevent some serious network problems. Thank you very much for an outstanding job.”

“In my 6 years as a Network Engineer, I've never come across a better tool for logging, filtering, and notification as the Kiwi Syslog Daemon. This product does more than some major companies' software claims to do. Best of all, it is really easy to custom-fit the application to your needs. In 6 years, I've been in 3 different companies and have recommended this to every single employer. It's inexpensive, light-weight, and effective. ”

“This is by far the best and most comprehensive syslog system I have ever seen. I use all of the Cisco enterprise tools, WhatsUP Gold, and many others. This so far is the most useful.”
Brian Tommasone - N.O.C. Manager - NCS DataCom Inc.

“My boss requested detailed reports from our PIX Firewalls. The firewall administrator and I both scoured Cisco's website and the Internet at large looking for something that would let us grab the information from the PIX and put it in some useful form.
Kiwi Syslogd was a perfect and economical solution. I can parse the text log files with perl and the logs are also written from within Kiwi to a Microsoft SQL 2000 Server for advanced queries.
Also, you guys have always been extremely fast to respond to emails. Much faster that some companies that charge much more for whatever product they are selling.
Keep up the good work, and I'll keep buying in and recommending you to others.” |

“We recently had a server that was victim to the Nimda virus. It hit early the first morning before anyone knew what was happening. I wouldn't have noticed but our Syslog server was recording an incredible amount of traffic from our Cisco PIX 515 units (the log file grew to 100Megs +). After quickly taking a look in the log files I noticed where the infected server was and fixed the problem. What a great tool!”

“Andrew, thanks for your continued efforts in addressing this minor bug. You have corrected it with this last patch. Both you and Ralph (RNR Software) have been fantastic to work with. I hope that with the additions that I have requested that it puts your product out as the clear choice for potential buyers. Your efforts reaffirm to both me and my boss that there are great developers out there that enjoy putting out a product that works right out of the box. Thank you very much.”

“I usually don't do this as I work in a busy datacenter and don't have time to compliment anyone on a particular product but I have to say how much I really like Kiwi Syslog Daemon. We use Kiwi and a freeware NT to syslog tool to forward event log messages from our 2000/2003 servers to Kiwi Syslog Daemon.
Kiwi Syslog Daemon is on a server that does a bunch of other things and it doesn't monopolize the server even though it is now doing over 14,000 messages an hour! With the powerful rules (we have over 70) we are filtering on important windows and vender specific application events. We also send real syslog messages from our switches and routers but they only account for only a small percentage of the total messages.
Kiwi syslog easily outperforms Microsoft MOM and any other monitoring system I've used. It is inexpensive, easy to set up, performs an amazing amount of work and uses very little CPU. Keep up the good work!” |

“I just wanted to write and say how happy I was to find your Syslog Daemon program for Windows NT. I recently had several disagreements with the local phone company regarding the number of calls made on my data lines. Before I started to use Kiwi's Syslog Daemon program, I had no way to verify the number of calls made by my router. I had to rely on the phone company records. I searched for several days looking at various syslog programs but when I ran across yours and installed the test version, I quit looking. I was very happy with the features and performance of your product. It fit exactly what I needed. In less than a day, I had evaluated the program and purchased the registered version. I really like the notification options the program provides which let me react quickly to telecomm problems as they happen. Thanks for a great program that functions as expected and provides features that are incredibly useful.”

“You have an excellent product. I was running 3Com's freeware version until I tried your syslogd. I believe that the registration fee is a steal and more than worth the money even when compared to 3Com's free version.”

“I love the Syslogger! We had previously purchased a different logging system and paid 5k for it. We tried Kiwi's and it worked flawlessly and even emailed me when my alerts were going crazy. It is nice to know that I can find a problem before the user does, especially when you manage 30+ routers and load balancers. I LOVE IT!!!”

“I first discovered your programs almost two years ago, and I am truly pleased. I have used both the Syslog Daemon and CatTools and can't thank you enough for your great work on these utilities. I was so pleased with your tools at my previous employer that I strongly recommended your tools to my new employer. Not only are the tools useful as a freeware tool, but the registered versions can compete with major brand name apps. Please keep up your good work!”

“A few months ago, I installed a Firewall on our corporate LAN. The one I chose, for cost, speed, and ease of use was Sonic Systems SonicWall Pro, which is an integrated Firewall unit. After researching, I found that they supported a Syslog server for advanced logging. To tell you the truth, I had no experience with this type of setup. After scouring the net and newsgroups, I heard about your product. I installed your Syslog Daemon for NT on a Dell P166 w/ NT workstation running, for the sole purpose of listening to the Firewall and logging everything. I registered the software, and got all the functionality. Now I have it setup so that all different types of traffic get logged to their own log file (web site hit, nntp, smtp, pop3, http, dns, etc...). Then at midnight they all save to a folder and start new files. It works great! Now I have the ability to sit at the Syslog server and monitor everything in real time, which is invaluable to me. And I have the ability to monitor for abuse of web and email privilege's, allowing me to implement a good Acceptable Internet Use policy for the company. So I just wanted to pass along to you that your product is excellent, and we are very happy with it. It is very rare that I can write an email like this... where I can buy software for a reasonable price that does exactly what I want it to do, without blowing itself up or crashing the Server. So my hat's off to you! Keep up the good work!”

“I manage a customer's frame relay network with 9 sites spread from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean. Over the last two years, each one of these circuits has gone down at least once. Before I used Kiwi's Syslog Daemon, I had to wait for a remote user to be impacted by an outage before I was aware of it. Only then, sometimes hours after the onset of the outage, could I place a call to the service provider for them to begin their troubleshooting. Now, when circuit goes down, I have the Syslog Daemon page my cell phone with a text message informing me of the circuit status and the circuit ID. It saves countless man-hours on the part of the customer, the service provider and me, the consultant. In the future, I plan the use the Syslog Daemon to generate bandwidth usage and circuit availability reports for my customers.”

“I thought you might find this interesting. Your Syslog program helped me catch a hacker in action! My Internet Provider (whom is now about to be "sacked") was supposed to be providing my firewall. We knew we were fairly safe from intrusion from outside the firewall (Internet) BUT!!! not from inside the firewall. The clowns left us wide open to their other customers. In fact ALL their customers are (or were) open to intrusion from other customers. To make a long story short... One of the ISP's other customers realized this and tried to hack my main router. Kiwi's Syslog Daemon was the first trip wire that got him. I've got logging turned on all routers so when this guy tried it, I got a message on the screen with his offending IP address. The president of the ISP and I had "a nice chat". He's now made some "needed changes". Thought that would make your day. It made mine. Cheers!”

“Taken from an e-mail to Intel Support:
I would highly recommend that Intel/Shiva drop the reference to the syslog daemon software that you currently recommend and instead recommend a package that is commercially available and is being actively supported. Kiwi Enterprise's Syslog Daemon software (http://www.kiwisyslog.com) is a fine product and the pre-sales support was very good. It is far more user friendly and feature-rich than the syslog daemon Intel ended up emailing me. Kiwi Enterprises even provided tools to help troubleshoot the D56 log broadcast problem I was pursuing with Intel.” |
Eric J. Smith - Technical Services - New York

“Thank you very much for your diligence! I've been looking for a good syslog daemon that didn't cost an arm and a leg and had the functionality of Kiwi's. Kudos to you! I would have paid the registration fee for the 'unregistered version' :) Once again, thank you for your efforts!”
