ERROR: Scheduled archiving does not work

In the case where your scheduled archive doesn't work, but pressing the "Perform Archive Now" button does work; the problem is usually caused by a lack of service permissions.

When you press the "Perform Archive Now" button, the archiving is performed using the current user's permissions. However, when the archive is performed from the service at the scheduled time, the service uses the "LocalSystem" account permissions. This may not have sufficient permission to move the log files from the source folder, to the destination folder.

You can try changing the Kiwi Syslog Daemon service login from "LocalSystem" to something with more permissions like "Administrator". This can be done from the Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services applet. A reboot of the computer will be required for the changes to take effect.

For information which you may find helpful, please see the following Microsoft Services Permissions article: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/a958b9d2-3ec1-4ab0-9f9f-7cb396605f3e1033.mspx?mfr=true

If you are archiving to a remote drive via a UNC path, we recommend that you create a user on both systems called "kiwisyslog", and assign them both the same passwords and sufficient permissions to the remote path. You will then need to change the login for the Kiwi Syslog Daemon Service, to use the "kiwisyslog" user. This can be done from the Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services applet. A reboot of the computer will be required for the changes to take effect.
