| Symptoms Upon starting Kiwi CatTools, you receive one of the following errors: 1) "Failed to load control '*' from *.OCX. Your version of *.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application." or 2) "Component *.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" Note: The * represents the name of the file. For example, comdlg32.ocx Reason 1) The first error may occur if another application has been installed to your system running CatTools, and has managed to replace the *.OCX file with an older version than the CatTools application requires. Normally this is a result of manual intervention (i.e. the file has been manually deleted) or another application installed has forcibly overwritten the file with an older version. 2) The second error may occur if the CatTools installation is unable to overwrite the existing *.OCX file which has been corrupted or unable to be read. If a corrupted component or library file is of a later version than the file which is trying to be installed, the CatTools installation will not be permitted to overwrite the file with an older version, and so the corrupt file will remain. Resolution To fix either of these problems, you will need to search your system for all instances of the "*.ocx" and rename them to "*_old.ocx". Once you have done this, you will need to reboot the system then reinstall Kiwi CatTools to ensure that the changes have taken place. |
