Error: 70 Permission denied (starting client threads)

If the you see the error: "Problem starting CatTools_Client instance #1. Error:70: Permission denied" in the InfoLog, the user running Kiwi CatTools doesn't have enough permission to launch the CatTools_Client DCOM component.

We recommend you try the following...

·Run the program "dcomcnfg.exe" from the Start | Run menu
·Locate the section called Component Services | Computers | My Computer | DCOM Config
·Select the item called CatTools_Client.clsMain (or CatTools_Client.KiwiSNMP depending on your version)
·Right click and choose Properties
·Click the Security tab
·Under the Launch and Activation permissions, click Customize
·Click the Edit button
·Adjust the permissions of the user running Kiwi CatTools to allow local launch and local activation.

Note: The service runs under the LocalSystem account.

After making the permissions changes, reboot the system and see if Kiwi CatTools is able to start the client threads correctly.

(The EventLog would show this as a DCOM error with Event ID: 10016.)
